Toni Kunst is a multidisciplinary artist, educator, and director. Her work exists at the intersection of Black Studies, Art History, and Performance Studies with a dissertation focused on the body art practices by black artists that function as a tactic to gain visibility and resist historical erasure. Moreover, she explores the legacy of U.S. slavery and examines how memory and historical trauma are addressed across performance and media, from early photography to contemporary performance and digital technologies.
